Small Onions Pickled in Port Wine with Orange

Ingredients for 1 serving

1 3/4 cup port wine

3/4 cup pearl onions, raw

2 cloves

1 orange, zested and the juice of half

5 tablespoons sugar

Small Onions Pickled in Port Wine with Orange

Preparation

  1. Cut the peel of an orange with a thin peeler. Boil port wine over high heat along with cloves, orange juice and reduce to half. 
  2. Add sugar and let bubble for another 5 to 7 minutes. Add peeled onions and boil until tender. Combine onions with the port wine syrup.
  3. Serve with a Castello Double Crème White with Green Peppers.
