Create a true flavour explosion

If using delectable nduja sausage on pizza does not make your tastebuds tingle enough, consider how a sprinkle of chilli flakes can add both heat and texture. Olives marinated in chilli can also add a bit of a kick. Their natural saltiness makes them a great pairing for the rich sausage which you can also balance nicely with cremini or portobello mushrooms that add deep savoury, earthy notes.

Tip

This asparagus puff pastry tart tastes amazing served alongside seafood such as salmon, shrimp, and roe. It is also a great companion to a fresh green salad drizzled with a tangy vinaigrette or a comforting roasted tomato soup. Use this quick and easy recipe to elevate everyday dishes or to indulge friends and family on special occasions.

  • How do I stop my puff pastry tart from going soggy?

Make sure the oven is fully preheated and consider placing the tart on a lower oven rack to help the bottom crisp up. Use a preheated baking stone or sheet for even heat distribution. After baking, promptly remove it from the baking sheet and cool it on a wire rack to prevent trapped steam from making it soggy.

  • Can you make a puff pastry tart ahead of time?

Yes, you can make a puff pastry tart ahead of time! For next-day serving, assemble the tart and refrigerate it before baking. When ready, bake until golden and crispy. If planning further ahead, freeze the fully assembled tart. To serve, bake directly from the freezer until golden. Ensure you cover the refrigerated tart tightly to retain freshness.

  • How to serve a puff pastry tart?

A cheese puff pastry tart is best served warm to maximise the pastry's flakiness and the gooeyness of the cheese. Serving it warm also brings out the flavours and aromas of other ingredients, ensuring the most indulgent experience. Serve it on its own or with a fresh green salad, roasted vegetables, or alongside seafood dishes like grilled shrimp or salmon to complement its rich taste.

  • What cheese to use for a puff pastry cheese tart?

For a puff pastry cheese tart, opt for melt-friendly cheeses. We opted for our Castello® Cheese Bake, a mix of mozzarella and Maasdammer, but you can also explore other kinds. Brie and Camembert bring a creamy texture, while Gruyere or Emmental offer a nutty hint. Mozzarella, with its mild flavour and excellent melt, is another great choice, especially when combined with diverse toppings.
