Grilled carrots with honey glaze and cheese cream

Cheese cream

  • 3½ ounces white cheese blocks
  • ⅝ cup greek yoghurt 2%
  • ½ tsp finely grated lime zest, unsprayed (pesticide-free)
  • freshly ground pepper

Honey glaze

  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1½ tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped red chillies
  • ½ tsp flake salt
  • ⅕ cup chopped fresh fresh mint leaves
  • 12 rinsed carrots keeping approx. 1¼ in. on the tops
  • ½ tsp coarse salt


Cheese cream

1. Mash the cheese in a bowl and combine with the yogurt, lime zest and pepper. Cover and refrigerate until serving.

Honey glaze

2. Combine the honey, oil and the rest of the ingredients. Season to taste.

3. Boil the carrots in lightly salted water for approx. 3 min. Drain well in a colander.

4. Heat a grill pan nice and hot – about 3 min.

5. Grill the carrots for about 10 min. – turning occasionally – until golden.

6. Brush with some of the glaze during the last 2 min.

7. Drizzle more glaze over the carrots in the serving dish.

8. Sprinkle with salt flakes and mint.

Tips & Tricks

You can also grill the carrots on a barbecue over indirect heat – use a grill tray. Brush the carrots with melted butter and grill covered for approx. 30 min. until tender. Turn the carrots over several times. Brush with the glaze during the last couple of minutes.
