tips & tricks

Serve up your gluten free Macaroni Cheese with something that compliments the flavours in the dish. Being careful when deciding what to pair your meal with is not just reserved for upscale restaurants or dinner parties. How you appreciate nuances is greatly affected by other aromas and tastes on your taste buds, making wine or beer perfect for preparing your palate. Though you should always cater to the dominant flavour, personal taste has the final say in what you should choose. The sharp and lingering taste of our Castello® Extra Mature Cheddar is best coupled with the strong notes seen in a Cabernet Sauvignon or a dry Chardonnay, while more delicate aromas from a Pinot Noir also do a great job at complimenting the flavours. When looking at beer, go for ones with acidity, fruitfulness and mild bitterness, i.e. Nut Browns, Pale Ales, etc. Not a lot of recipes deliver such depth of flavour, while requiring the same low-effort in the kitchen, as macaroni cheese. Swapping pasta for wheat-free alternatives means that families with gluten intolerances can take pleasure in the dish as well.
