Create a true flavour explosion

If using delectable nduja sausage on pizza does not make your tastebuds tingle enough, consider how a sprinkle of chilli flakes can add both heat and texture. Olives marinated in chilli can also add a bit of a kick. Their natural saltiness makes them a great pairing for the rich sausage which you can also balance nicely with cremini or portobello mushrooms that add deep savoury, earthy notes.

Tip

To easily transfer your pizza to the hot baking sheet, prepare it on a piece of parchment paper. Simply slide the parchment paper onto the hot baking sheet. This prevents any topping spillage or dough misshape, ensuring a beautifully round and even pizza!

  • What is nduja?

Nduja is a fiery Calabrian masterpiece, a spreadable salami that packs a punch. Made from a blend of pork, fat, and a generous helping of red chilli peppers, it is the epitome of spicy indulgence. Whether melted into pasta sauces or dolloped on pizzas, nduja elevates any dish with its lingering spice.

  • What goes with nduja on pizza?

Essential nduja pizza toppings include a simple tomato sauce base that allows the flavour of the spreadable sausage to stand out. To balance its spiciness, it is often paired with a mild cheese like mozzarella. It is also delicious with sweet and mild vegetables like onion, pepper, and courgette. Finally, fresh herbs and a sprinkle of lemon zest can add a fresh, contrasting note.

  • How spicy is an nduja pizza?

Traditional nduja is made with Calabrian chilli peppers, lending the salami a noticeable but balanced heat. Spread on pizzas, it imparts a warm, lingering spiciness that most consider moderate to high–spicy but not overwhelming. Cheese and tomato sauce can temper the heat, especially if a mild, rich cheese such as mozzarella is used.
