Puff pastry grissini or 'breadsticks' with Cream Cheese

An fun but delicate snack  - our recipe for Puff Pastry Grissini or 'Breadsticks' with Cream Cheese is a mouthful of joy for children and adults alike. The brittle texture of the puff pastry and the gritty sensation of the poppy seeds are wonderfully complemented by the rich cream cheese with chives.

Cheesy Sweet Cream


  • 1 roll puff pastry
  • 1/3 of a Castello® Chives & Spring Onion Cream Cheese Ring
  • 1 egg
  • poppy seeds


1. Unfold the puff pastry dough on the worktop.

2. Spread the cream cheese on one half of the puff pastry dough. Fold the other half over. Make sure to press them together firmly.

3. Brush one side with the beaten egg and sprinkle with poppy seeds.

4. Cut the puff pastry into 1 cm wide strips and give them a couple of twists.

5. Place on a baking tray and bake for 15-20 minutes at 180°C (or until golden).

6. Serve with the remaining cream cheese and a lovely glass of wine.
