Light and fluffy with a touch of sweetness, these buns will blend perfectly with the other components of your burger.

  • 300 ml water
  • 50 ml oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg for brushing
  • 15 g yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 150 g durum wheat flour
  • 400 g wheat flour
  • 60 g butter
  • sesame seed to sprinkle on top

Your gourmet burger deserves the ultimate burger bun, so why not go all in and make them yourself? This is the recipe for the ultimate burger buns – apart from the great taste, they have a lovely soft crumb and a fluffy interior. And just a tip – this is just as great for homemade hot dog buns!

Mix the egg, water, oil, sugar and yeast together until the yeast dissolves. Mix the two types of flour with the salt. Add 2/3 of the flour mix to the liquid mixture and stir together. Continue adding the last part of the flour mixture until you can touch the dough without it sticking to your fingers. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, then a small cube of cold butter. Knead until it is incorporated into the dough.

Let the dough rise under a cloth for one hour. Place the dough on a board sprinkled with flour. Divide the dough into 10 equal portions. Roll it out to the buns and place them on a baking sheet. Let them rise for another half hour. Brush with egg and sprinkle with sesame.

Bake the buns at 200 degrees for about 12-15 minutes. They must have a bit of color and sound hollow when you knock them on the bottom.
